3d Hybrids Etude 4
For my fourth study I though that I would look into A4 cutting art. This is basically where you create relief/3D art using 1 piece of A4 paper only, the main body of the paper becomes the stand or surround for the semi cut out pieces. I'm not really sure whether there are rules involved with this type of art ie. whether you can cut the pieces out completely or whether they have to be attached by at least one tab, however, there is always room for experimentation. They are very interesting and intricate pieces and I'd like to explore creating my own piece. The interesting thing will be how successful it will be due to the intricacies of cut and folding the paper. It might be nice to experiment with colouring the piece in once the idea has bee finalised, to see whether that adds anything to the final piece. The other interesting experiment that I might try is using 2 different coloured pieces of paper glued together and then cut out showing both colours through a series of folds. Let the research begin.....
